Our Story

Why Whit-Log?

This is why we are a cut above the industry's competition...

We have a story that has helped us pave the way to becoming one of the industry's best...

Whit-Log's Story

You've been the reason for our journey since day 1...

An Idea was Born

It all started with a teenager's dream in Amberg, Wisconsin. How many of us dare to dream big and then work our whole lives to make it a reality? Gene Whitaker did. He traveled to Douglas County, Oregon in 1959 with his family, and he started Gene Whitaker Inc. by buying his first truck and then adding trucks to his fleet little by little. In the 70s, he came up with the idea for a better log trailer and Whit-Log, Inc. was born. It has become a thriving company in the Douglas County community of Wilbur, Oregon, which impacts the nation's trucking industry.

1,000+ Satisfied Customers

Whit-Log Trailers always strives to be the best in the industry.  Our customers rely on us to provide them with the best equipment in order to make a living for years to come. The equipment must last, and we are honored when customers will only use Whit-Log for their parts and service needs. We're up to the challenge of meeting the engineering and hauling needs of the trucking industry, but we realize it's way more than that. It's about our customers and the living that they're making with Whit-Log equipment. That will always make us strive to be better. It's not only the smile on the faces of our customers, but it's also the handshake from our fellow truckers that have become friends in the process. We're in this together.

Gene Whitaker was recently awarded with the honor of 50 Years of Service to the Trucking Industry by the American Truck Historical Society. Unfortunately, due to his passing in the Spring of 2016, he wasn't able to attend the ceremony honoring his service in the industry. But, as we all know, the dream lives on in all of our hearts, including his four children (Keith, Brett, Kelly, and Deborah) now running the companies he founded and accepted the award on his behalf.

Our "People"

It always starts with one, and Gene grew his companies to what is approximately 100 employees today. Gene always called his employees his "people." He said, "Without them, I'm nothing." It wasn't about employees to Gene, it was about adding to the family...the Gene Whitaker & Whit-Log Family. It takes a community of like-minded people working together to make the company the best it can be to serve its customers.
